Owls Rally Past Campbell, Win Seventh Consecutive Conference Road Game

After a disappointing home loss to Monmouth last week, the Kennesaw State Owls were able to rally from a 14-3 deficit in the first half to beat Campbell 38-35. It was the seven consecutive Big South Conference Road victory and they are now one game behind Monmouth for the conference lead with two games remaining.

Quarterback Tommy Bryant came in for an injured Daniel David and he had a career day, rushing for 105 yards and scoring five total touchdowns. Bryant’s first score came late in the second quarter when he scored on an eight-yard run to cut Campbell’s lead 14-10. Campbell was able to add to its lead with a TD run with 1:57 left in the half, but the Owls gained a ton of momentum when running back Shaquil Terry caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Byrant with 30 seconds remaining in the second quarter.

The Owls then took the lead late in the third quarter when Bryant scored on a 2-yard run. KSU got the ball back very quickly after linebacker Bryson Armstrong intercepted a Campbell pass which and it led to a Bryant 26-yard pass to Terry to give them the 31-21 lead.

Campbell scored on a three-yard run early in the fourth quarter, but the Owls were able to increase the lead to 10 when Bryant scored on a one-yard run with 6:51 remaining in the game. The Camels were able to put together another scoring drive which cut KSU’s lead to three with 3:01 left in the fourth. However, KSU ran out the clock to earn their eighth win of the year.

The Owls’ next game will be against Hampton next Saturday and it will be their final road game of the season.
