After ending the 2021 season in heartbreaking fashion, the Kennesaw State Owls football team is gearing up for 2022. This week, KSU released its non-conference schedule for the upcoming season. The Owls will open the season on the road against Samford on Sept. 1. That will be followed up by a huge contest against an FBS school, the Cincinnati Bearcats. Cincinnati is coming off a 2021 season where it reached the College Football Playoff. The game against the Owls will be Cincinnati’s home opener.
The Owls’ first home non-conference game will be on Sept. 24 against Wofford. They will follow that up with home against the Tennesee Tech and Charleston Southern. The final road non-conference game will be against UT Martin on Nov. 5.
KSU finished the 2021 season with an 11-2 record. The Owls won the Big South Conference for the third time in five seasons and reached the second round of the playoffs. They came close to reaching the quarterfinals but lost to East Tennessee State 32-31. This season, KSU will be playing in a new conference called the Atlantic Sun. The other sports at Kennesaw State already play in the A-Sun, but this will be the second year that the conference features football. The other teams in the conference are Jacksonville State, Eastern Kentucky, Central Arkansas, Austin Peay and North Alabama
