It’s homecoming week for the Kennesaw State Owls, and they are looking to win their fourth consecutive game. On Saturday, the Owls will take on North Carolina A&T at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. This will be the first time the two teams have faced each other as the Aggies entered the Big South Conference this season.
Since losing to Georgia Tech over a month ago, the Owls have been on a roll, outscoring their opponents 96-31 in the last three games. A large part of their success comes from quarterback Xavier Shepherd who has recorded nine rushing touchdowns this season, the second-best total in the FCS. So far this year, KSU ranks second in the FCS in rushing yards per game (288.4) and time of possession (35:25).
In a short amount of time, KSU head coach Brian Bohannon has become very successful in Big South play. Overall, Bohannon has won 56 career games at KSU while losing just two Big South games over the last four seasons. The only coach in Big South history who has won more games than Bohannon is Coastal Carolina coach David Bennett with 63.
North Carolina A&T comes into the contest on a three-game winning streak after losing their first two games of the year. The Aggies previously played in the MEAC Conference and have won seven Black College National Championships.
