The start of the 2021 fall season is going to be different for the KSU Owls. Earlier this week, the team announced that their season opener against Reinhardt University will be played on Thursday, September 2 at 8 p.m. The game will take place at Fifth Third Bank Stadium, making it the first Thursday night home game in program history.
“I cannot think of a better way to welcome fans back to Fifth Third Bank Stadium for an exciting atmosphere than the first Thursday night game in KSU history,” Deputy Athletics Director Matt Griffin said. “Our student body has responded well to evening games, and they will help create an electric environment. We also look to reward season ticket holders with a chance to make history in an incredible setting. Thank you to Reinhardt’s Vice President for Athletics and Athletic Director Bill Popp for working with us to set up an exciting start to the season.”
Originally, the Owls were scheduled to play Reinhardt on Saturday, Sept. 4. The contest will be the start of a very difficult schedule for KSU as it will face Georgia Tech, Wofford, and Jacksonville State in the first half of the year.
