The Kennesaw State Owls are on a roll as they have won their last three games by a combined score of 181-36. After their loss to Georgia State in the season opener, the Owls were able to run past Tennessee Tech, Alabama State and Clark Atlanta. KSU has not lost a home game since Oct. 15, 2016, and they haven’t lost to an FCS opponent in the regular season since Aug. 31, 2017.
And the last FCS team to beat the Owls in the regular season is coming to Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Saturday to turn its season around. Samford has lost its last three games after beating Shorter 66-9 in the season opener. However, the Bulldogs lost all three games by a combined score of 23 points, so they will come into Saturday’s game with a chip on their shoulder.
The Bulldogs want revenge against the Owls as they feel to them in the first round of the playoffs last year. It’s not going to be easy because the Owls have the No. 2 rushing offense in the FCS and they have the top defense in the Big South Conference. QB Chandler Burks leads the Big South in scoring (12 points per game) while running back Darnell Holland leads the conference in yards per rush (16.7). Defensively, the Owls lead the conference in interceptions and they have forced a turnover in 18 consecutive games dating back to last season. In last week’s game against Clark Atlanta, the Owls intercepted four passes and two were returned for touchdowns.
