Former Owls Running Back Takes a Shot at Coaching His Old Team

Kennesaw, GA – Former Owls running back Ryan Godhigh has been offered a position to be the running backs coach for the Harrison Jr Hoyas 8th grade team next fall.

Godhigh will be returning to his alma mater where he spent his 6th, 7th and 8th grade seasons at running back. When he made it to the high school level, Godhigh played all four years at Harrison (08-11.) In all, he played in the Harrison football system since he was 5-years old.

This coaching position came up via a casual conversation with Godhigh and a former coach, “ I was talking to my old highschool’s teammates dad Wayne Adams who coaches offensive line… Then I told him I really want to get into coaching because that’s always been a passion of mine and he introduced me to the offensive coordinator Brian James and we talked about the offense and how I could help. I told him I would love the opportunity to coach the running backs so he could focus on the quarterbacks and he said I could get the chance.”

The Harrison Jr Hoyas are led by head coach Brian Keeton. We asked coach what he thought about what Ryan brings to the staff, ” Ryan will bring youth, passion and exuberance to our coaching staff. Not only did he play high school football, but also played at the collegiate level (Kennesaw State), which will help in coaching football fundamentals to our youth.”

The 8th grade Jr Hoyas bring up a 7th grade team that won the GMSAA Championship last season.

Godhigh and the Jr. Hoyas start practice in late July and kick off their season on August 12th at the GMSAA Kick Off Classic.
