Game Preview
Kennesaw State begins their post season with the ASUN Quarterfinals at USC Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Monday, February 27 at 7 p.m.
The Owls finished the ASUN regular season at 7-7 and as the five seed. KSU split in the regular season with Upstate as each team won on their home court.
All-Conference Members
The Owls had three student-athletes honored by the ASUN.
Kendrick Ray became the first player in Kennesaw State history to make First Team All-Conference after he averaged 20.9 points per game through the regular season.
Aubrey Williams was named Second Team All-Conference after being the only player in the ASUN to average a double-double with 13.3 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game.
James Scott was voted onto the ASUN All-Freshmen Team after averaging 9.2 points per game in 16 minutes of action. He is the fifth Owl all time to make the All-Freshmen team and first since 2010.
ASUN Tournament History
Kennesaw State is 1-4 in the ASUN Tournament in their history with the victory coming against Lipscomb back in 2010.
KSU has faced Upstate in Spartanburg once, dropping the contest back at the end of the 2014-15 season.
Owning the Boards
Through 30 games, Aubrey Williams is averaging 13.3 points and 11.0 rebounds with 19 double-doubles. The 19 double-doubles is the fourth most in the country. Williams had a double-double in 10 of the 14 conference games and has pulled down a double-double in six straight games.
Earlier in the season against FGCU, Williams set the single-season rebounding record at Kennesaw State. His 330 rebounds is currently the fourth most in the NCAA.
Williams is the first ASUN player to average a double-double since Daniel Emerson did it back in 2009-10.
Chasing Records
The three leaders for the Owls have had great seasons and have positioned themselves to be near the top in Kennesaw State’s record book.
Masterson currently leads the NCAA in three point field goal percentage at 52.9 and if the season ended today, that would be a new ASUN record. The old record was 52.6 set back in 1990-91 season by David Mitchell on Samford.
Ray has 605 points on the season averaging 20.9 per game. The 605 ppg is most ever during Division I and he’s coming up on second most all time at KSU as Terrence Hill sits in second with 611 points.
At 330 rebounds for Williams, he is third all-time on the KSU list and his 11.0 rebounds per game is second all time.
