Atlanta Brave and Georgia Bulldog Gordon Beckham 1st Pitch Banquet Feb 10th

ATHENS—–Tickets are now on sale to attend University of Georgia’s 1st Pitch Banquet at the Classic Center on Friday, Feb. 10 featuring Georgia great and Major Leaguer Gordon Beckham and the 2017 Bulldog baseball team.

 

The highlights of the dinner event include hearing from Beckham, meeting the 2017 Georgia Bulldogs and coaching staff plus a silent and live auction.

 

Doors open at 6 p.m. with the dinner to begin at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $100/person ($75 for former Bulldog baseball players). A table for 10 is $850. The deadline to reserve your seat(s) or table is Feb. 3.

 

Beckham, a native of Atlanta, Ga., has played eight years in the Major Leagues with the Chicago White Sox, L.A. Angels, Atlanta Braves and San Francisco Giants. An All-American and Academic All-American, he was a three-year starting shortstop for the Bulldogs from 2006-08 as they made two trips to the College World Series (CWS). As a junior, he helped Georgia to the CWS Finals when he batted .411 and led the NCAA with 28 home runs. In his Bulldog career, he batted .333 with a school record 53 home runs and 182 RBI. He was a first round draft pick of the White Sox in 2008 and less than a year later, he made his Major League debut. In 2009, Beckham earned American League Rookie of the Year honors by the MLB Players Association and The Sporting News. Starting in 2014, Georgia’s annual Most Valuable Player Award was named after him.

 

Ike Cousins head baseball coach Scott Stricklin is in his fourth season leading the Bulldogs, and they return 18 veterans plus have 17 newcomers. The 2017 college baseball season opens Feb. 17.
