KSU Commit Central Update 11/6/2015

With Kennesaw State’s latest win over Monmouth University, they are only one and a half games out of first place in the Big South Conference. This definitely has the future Owl commits excited. Were are also happy to announced that Kennesaw has added their eight commit to the 2016 class in Shaquil Terry. Landon Smothers, Chris Byrd and Malik Oliver turned in the most impressive performances this week.

Landon Smothers, a commitment out of the 2016 class from Muscle Shoals High School in Alabama completed 13 of 19 passes for 230 yards and a touchdown in Muscle Shoal’s 28-0 win. He also had 48 rushing yards. Muscle Shoals will host Huffman High School in the first round of the Alabama High School Football playoffs this Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Chris Byrd, a commitment out of the 2016 class from Gainesville High School in Gainesville, Georgia had 18 carries for 69 yards and 2 touchdowns in Gainesville 24-14 win over Loganville High School. He also had 1 catch for 4 yards and 9 tackles on defense, 6 of which were solo. Gainesville will host Flowery Branch High School this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the regular season finale.

Bryson Armstrong, a commitment out of the 2016 class from Kell High School in Marietta, Georgia had 1 catch for 14 yards in Kell’s 35-0 win over Sprayberry High School. He also had 1 punt return for 10 yards and 3 tackles on defense, 2 of which were solo. Kell will visit Dalton High School this Friday at 7:30 p.m. for the Region 7 championship.

Zach Thompson, a commitment out of the 2016 class from Emanuel County Institute in Twin City, Georgia helped lead Emanuel County to their eight win of the season over Montgomery County High School 48-0. Emanuel County will visit Savannah Christian this Friday at 7:30 p.m. for the Region 3 championship.

Forrest Evans, a commitment out of the 2016 class from Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia had an off week last week. Walton will host Cherokee High School this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the regular season finale.

Malik Oliver, a commitment out of the 2016 class from Douglas County High School in Douglasville, Georgia lead the way as Douglas County compiled 511 yards of total offense in their 40-14 win over Campbell High School. Douglas County will host Pebblebrook High School this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the regular season finale.

Jabir Frye, a commitment out of the 2016 class from Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida was sidelined with an injury in Escambia’s 28-26 win over Booker T. Washington High School. Escambia will host their rival Pensacola High School this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the regular season finale.

Shaquille Terry, a commitment out of the 2016 class from McAdory High School in McCalla, had 17 carries for 144 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns in McAdory’s 35-3 win over Wetumpka High School last night in the first round of the Alabama High School Football Playoffs. He also had a 9-yard receiving touchdown as well. McAdory will host Benjamin Russell High School in the 2nd round of the playoffs next Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Kennesaw State will host the Buccaneers of Charleston Southern University this Saturday at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Kickoff time is at 1:00 p.m. The Buccaneers are coming off a huge upset over FCS top-ranked Coastal Carolina last week 33-25. With their win over Coastal Carolina, the Buccaneers rose to #15 in the FCS rankings. Charleston Southern will be looking to stay unbeaten in the conference with a win over KSU. KSU is coming off their sixth win of the season over Monmouth University 23-13. KSU will be looking to solidify a top spot in the Big South Conference with an upset win over Charleston Southern.
