Owls Fly Past Alabama State in Dominant Win

After suffering a heartbreaking loss to Kent State last week, the Kennesaw State Owls took care of business on Saturday night by blowing past Alabama State 42-7 at ASU Stadium in Montgomery, Ala. The Owls threw the first punch early in the first quarter when Tanner Jones blocked an Alabama State punt. That led to Daniel David scoring on a two-yard run to give KSU the 7-0 lead.

On the next drive, Demetrius Pettway intercepted an Alabama State pass which was returned for a touchdown. So the Owls had a 14-0 lead with 11:55 left in the first quarter. They increased the lead to 21 when Bronson Rechsteiner scored on a 55-yard run at the end of the first. The Owls kept the momentum going at the start of the second quarter when Adesola Abisoye intercepted a Hornets pass which led to a Tommy Bryant two-yard touchdown run. The Owls led 28-0 at the half.

At the start of the third quarter, KSU increased their lead to 35 when Antavius Greer scored on a 55-yard run. The Hornets got on the board on the ensuing drive but the Owls answered later in the third when Bryant scored on a 14-yard run.

The Owls recorded 481 rushing yards, the most they recorded this season, while they limited Alabama State to 45 yards on the ground. David has now rushed for a touchdown in four straight games while Isaac Foster posted 130 all-purpose yards. Five Owls rushed for at least 60 yards in the win. Joel Parker anchored the Owls defense with eight tackles, six tackles for loss and three sacks.

KSU improves to 2-1 on the year. Next Saturday, the Owls will travel to Springfield, Mo. to face Missouri State.
