KSU Owls Make History in 59-0 win Over Point

The Kennesaw State Owls kicked off the 2019 season in a big way as they were able to blow past Point 59-0 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Saturday night. With the Owls being a young program, they have made their share of history since starting in 2015. But on Saturday night, the Owls have done something they have never done before, winning their season opener at home.

“I want to say thank you to everyone who came to the game, I thought the crowd was great, our students were awesome, Owls head coach Brian Bohannon said via the team’s official website. “That’s the first time we won an opener at Fifth Third Bank Stadium, we were 1-3 coming into tonight and we haven’t won at home, so it was a big deal for us.”

The Owls jumped on the Skyhawks from the start as they led 28-0 after the first quarter. KSU then added 14 points in the second and third quarter and the defense was stout throughout the entire contest, allowing 129 of total yards of offense.

Quarterback Daniel David was the offensive star for the Owls as he threw for 114 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 40 yards and two scores. Running back Shaquil Terry added 80 total yards and two total touchdowns while backup quarterback Tommy Bryant recorded a passing touchdown and rushing touchdown.

On defense, linebacker Kareem Taylor led the unit with five tackles and one sack while defensive back Que Drake recorded four tackles and four tackles for loss. And when it comes to turnovers, freshman defensive back Marke Montgomery was the first to earn the turnover plank this year as he recorded an interception in the second quarter.

The Owls now have a 22-6 record in non-conference games. They will have another non-conference contest next Saturday when they travel to Kent, Ohio to take on Kent State at noon.
